How Should I Clean My Jewelry?

Generally speaking it is best practice to gently clean your jewelry with a soft, damp cloth. If more rigorous cleaning is required, please carefully research the stones you want to clean and err on the side of caution. Natural stones have different hardnesses and properties. For most of the stones we use, you can gently clean your jewelry with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush to help retain its shine. Some soft minerals, like selenite, turquoise, and opal, can be damaged by water and even dissolve. How Do I Protect My Jewelry?

With a little care, your beautiful new jewelry can last you a lifetime. Ensure that it does by following our simple jewelry care tips.

  • Moisture and salts may be damaging, so keep jewelry stored in as dry a location as possible and never store jewelry in the bathroom.
  • Keeping pieces stored in individual baggies will help prevent tangling, oxidation, and scratches.
  • Exposure to common household chemicals and beauty supplies can damage and dull gemstones. Avoid direct contact with showers, perfume, lotion, chlorine, and soaps.  Be mindful.
  • Jewelry can scratch with wear. These are natural stones and they will show their use over time. Expect that your most worn jewelry will appear well-loved.
  • Some of our jewelry contains silver elements- these can tarnish over time but you can polish them with a microfiber cloth as needed to bring back their shine.

Can I Use More Than One Coupon?

Only one coupon can be used per transaction. Because we make all our jewelry by hand and the price of our raw materials is so high, all orders purchased using a discount code or coupon are only eligible for an exchange or store credit. If you need to return an item that you purchased with a coupon code, we will gladly offer you store credit so that you can find the perfect replacement.

Are The Pictures Online To Scale?

No. Jewelry photography is a balancing act between accurately representing the piece and showing the fine details. If you have any questions regarding the size of a particular piece, please submit them via our contact page and we will be happy to provide you more visual references.

Where Do The Stones Come From?

mossy bean very carefully selects our suppliers to make sure all of the stones we use are traceable and responsibly sourced. All of our suppliers are woman-owned small businesses based in the USA.

What Type Of Metal Is Used In mossy bean?

We use 100% surgical grade stainless steel for its hypoallergenic properties and durability on all our hooks and backings (any element that will come in direct contact with your skin).

Some of our jewelry has metal charms or elements. These metals differ item to item and will be listed on the product description. If you have any questions we encourage you to contact us.

Do You Do Special Orders Or Custom Work?

Yes! We love to do custom work so please do not hesitate to ask about going custom. Send us a message through our contact page to get things started. Kait will schedule a meeting to talk about what you’re looking for and what she has available. Custom work is priced based on materials used, labor, and the time spent in correspondence with the client.

Custom designs take 1-3 weeks to complete depending on what we have in stock. You will be notified every step of the way and we will make sure you are thrilled with your order before shipping your item.

What is Your Return/Exchange Policy?

mossy bean wants you to love your new purchase. If however you need to return an item we are here to help.

For returns, please contact us within 30 days of receiving your order. We gladly accept returns and will offer a full refund on non-custom items. Items returned after 30 days may be returned for online and store credit only.

Returned items must be in original condition and not show any signs of wear or use. When requesting a refund or exchange, please include your first and last name, item name and reason for return. Once return is received, all items will be carefully examined and full refund or store credit will be issued within 5 days. Please note that refund/store credit will be issued for value of merchandise returned only (shipping fees will not be credited). Store credit is valid for 1 year once issued.

All custom orders are nonrefundable, but do ask- we won't bite and want happy customers. Hopefully we can work something out!

Returns and exchanges are limited to 2 transactions (ie original order > exchange for new item). After that point a restocking fee will be assessed.

We reserve the right to reject any returns that do not comply with the conditions stated above. If you have any questions about returns, please contact us here.

Return Policies For Gifts

Items received as gifts may be exchanged for another item, with the value of the original gift going towards the exchange and the difference charged to the gift recipient. Credit will not be issued for exchanges for an item of lesser value.

Return Policies For Sale Items

All sale merchandise is final sale and are thus not eligible for return or exchange. They are still eligible for repair. No coupons may be used on sale merchandise.

Return Policies For Orders Using Coupons

Only one coupon can be used per transaction. Coupons cannot be combined. Coupons cannot be retroactively applied.

Please note: the following are NOT coupon eligible:

  • all custom items
  • Gift cards

Return Polices For Custom Orders

All custom and personalized pieces are made to order and are thus final sale.

What Are Shipping Rates For Domestic Orders?

All orders are shipped insured via USPS. Fees per order are as follows:

  • Continental USA First Class : $6
  • Continental USA Expedited: $16

The customer is responsible for any and all shipping charges related to undeliverable packages, including return to sender fees ($15) and fees for future shipments ($15 for USPS ground).

If you would like a package to be intercepted and re-routed to a new address, please contact USPS and be aware that you may be subject to rerouting fees.

What Are Shipping Rates and Policies For International Orders?

International orders are shipped through USPS with the following options:

  • First Class Package
  • First Class Package International
  • Priority Mail Express

International shipping will be automatically calculated based on the destination with Shopify’s discounted rates plus a $2 handling fee to cover packaging materials and logistics.

All international orders are subject to import taxes, customs duties and brokerage fees levied by the destination country and the recipient is responsible for paying these fees. mossy bean has no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. These fees are imposed by the receiving country and are based on the retail value of the invoice. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information.

The customer is responsible for any and all shipping charges related to undeliverable packages (including return to sender fees). mossy bean is unable to provide refunds for international orders if a customer declines to pay the duties and the package is treated as abandoned or returned to sender. Any fees that mossy bean incurs in this or similar scenario will be billed to the recipient.

All international orders are final sale and we are unable to offer repairs on international orders. If you need a repair for an international order, please contact us and we can advise you on local solutions.

How Long Will It Take For You to Ship My Jewelry?

We do our best to turn orders around as quickly as possible (usually 1-2 days). Custom pieces can take up to 1-3 weeks to make. (Shipping for domestic and international orders are outlined in the next fe sections)

If you need your jewelry by a certain date, please contact us via our contact page to confirm that the item is in stock. We will always do our best to accommodate your requests but ordering with expedited shipping DOES NOT guarantee that your item will be shipped immediately if it is a custom order.

Orders are processed, shipped and delivered Monday through Friday only. All orders placed on Saturday, Sunday or on a national holiday, will be processed the following business day.

Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number.

What If I Need To Rush My Order?

If you need your jewelry by a certain date, please contact us via our contact page to confirm that the item is in stock. We will always do our best to accommodate your requests but ordering with expedited shipping DOES NOT guarantee that your item will be shipped immediately. Additional rush fees may apply.

What Are Your Repair Policies?

At mossy bean, quality and craftsmanship is of our utmost concern. Our pieces are meant to be worn daily. However, jewelry is by its very nature delicate. If you should experience the need for a repair, we are here to help. All jewelry purchased within the last year is eligible for a complimentary 1 time repair for any breakage caused by manufacturer defect. If your jewelry breaks due to normal wear and tear, we can still repair it for free within the first year, but you will be responsible for round trip shipping.

Repairs needed after 1 year or deemed to be caused by misuse will incur a repair charge at the customer’s expense (usually in the $15 range + $6 shipping each way). mossy bean reserves the right to charge these fees using our discretion.

Please request a repair via our contact page and be sure to enclose your Name, Address, Order Number, Phone Number and Reason for Repair. When shipping, be sure to include all components to your jewelry (all charms, chains, stones, etc).

Repair Policies For Gifts

Items received as gifts may be repaired by us depending on when and where the person purchased it. We will need the name of the person who purchased the gift and the approximate date so we can look up the order number. We reserve the right to decline these repairs or charge a fee. 

Repair Policies For International Orders

All international orders are final sale and we are unable to offer repairs on them. If you need a repair for an international order and you are within our 1-year free repair window, please contact us and we can advise you on local solutions.
